About The 1991 Streetwear
The 1991 was born from a desire to create more than a clothing brand—it’s a medium for inspiring and influencing social change while fulfilling a dream of designing streetwear. The brand’s founder, Aeiko, has always sought purpose, both in their own life and in supporting others, particularly those struggling with mental health challenges, addiction, trauma. Aeiko believes that everyone faces struggles—some shared, some unique—but at our core, we are all connected through our human experiences. Despite our past mistakes or hardships, we all deserve love, acceptance, and a chance to grow.
In 2024, The 1991 came to life through the creative vision of Aeiko Devaney and their partner Olive Wanjiru, who together transformed their passion into a fashion brand with purpose.
The 1991 is more than just clothing; it’s a message. It stands as a protest against harmful social norms, a guide for societal change, and a call to build a world where differences are celebrated, not condemned.
Our Philosophy
The 1991 is built on three guiding pillars for meaningful change:
- Personal Development: Inspiring individuals to grow, learn, and build resilience, fostering self-awareness and empowerment.
- Understanding Over Judgment: Advocating empathy and compassion, encouraging people to seek understanding rather than judgment, and fostering inclusivity.
- Challenging Social Norms: Questioning outdated societal standards and paving the way for a fairer, more accepting world.
Together, these pillars reflect our commitment to transformation—both personal and collective.
Our Vision
The 1991’s dream of building a thriving clothing brand is only the beginning. We are a movement dedicated to disrupting and reshaping society for the better. Through our work, we strive to help humanity unlearn harmful patterns and relearn the values of compassion, empathy, open-mindedness, and authenticity.
“We are a movement. We intend to disrupt and influence society.”
Fashion, for us, is a tool—a powerful medium for inspiring action and driving social change. It transcends style, challenging societal norms and encouraging all of us to do better. Together, we can create a more compassionate and equitable future.
